The Dutchman finalised personal terms with the Red Devils earlier this month, but a formal confirmation was delayed due to formalities left to be sorted with Ajax.
The club recently opened talks with the Dutch giants to trigger the €2 million release clause on Ten Hag’s contract. It is now official that Ten Hag will take charge as manager when the season ends. The 52-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the option for a further 12 months. Ten Hag told the club’s official website: “It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead.”
United have a huge rebuilding job this summer with several out-of-contract players expected to head for the exit door. On top of this, a number of fringe stars could also leave.
Ten Hag will be eyeing several signings of his own. The hierarchy are set to back him with funds and the onus could be on pursuing young players with glowing potential.
